She worked hard by herself with no help from her brothers (or me). Yeh A! We received a great gift from my cousin last Christmas and we weren't able to use it till now. I thought it was a thoughtful and fun gift. Perfect, ya know? Thanks Cuz!
Valentine's day came and went. I went to Target with my kids and we went through the Valentine isle and asked them to choose the cards/candy they wanted to pass out at their parties at school. My son, T chose a Cars themed pack of cards with a big fat red lollipop to go with each card. My daughter perused through the choices and was not impressed. She asked if we could just make them. Ok, I thought that was a great idea. We searched the internet for some ideas and she liked this one.It only required three materials: cardstock, tape and lollipops. AND a whole bunch of cutting, poking holes and clean up! I always pictured myself working on projects together with my kids. It was sort of dreamy with us all sitting together with smiles and having a great time. Oh, I had a good time, but I learned I'm sort of a perfectionist and had to let some things go. I had to remind myself it wasn't my project. I've had to learn that in a few areas with my kids. It's going to get messy if you bake with them. Playdough is going to get messy when given to a bunch of toddlers. It's going to be loud and crazy when facilitating a board game with kids. It's not always going to be the way you want it, Mommy. Yes, I know that now, thanks. Sigh, I'm tired now. Oh, these flowers had leaves on the bottom of them, but they're sort of small. The leaves say, to and from on one and the other said, "Be my bud-dy." Cute, huh?
Lastly, A had her first Penance! She didn't seem nervous. She didn't talk about her experience which is good thing since those things are between the penitent and God, but this Mommy is so curious! Oh well, it is good to know my little one can now examine her conscience, ask and receive absolution. Next, her first Holy Communion.

yay for tons of snow!
ReplyDeleteit really is an excuse to go play and have some good clean fun ya? unfortunately, in utah we get it almost every day, at least once a week but we're to efficient at cleaning it up so in the all the 17 years i've lived here now, school has NEVER even been delayed an hour! seriously. so my kids sled and snowboard on the weekends sometimes, but your post made me wish for a real snow day. :) great post!
i too have to let go of my perfectionist crazy to let the projects be kid projects. homemade valentines are the BEST - way better than the stores, but girls seem to be the only ones who know this because my boys always seemed to be excited about the store bought ones. allie always wanted homemade. :) isn't that funny?! yours turned out DARLING, love the flowers!
your are a great mom. i'm so excited to reconnect with you again and watch your cute family grow from all these miles away!
I always had pity for the snow crew here in Montgomery County thinking they are doing everything they can, but after hearing how efficient Utah is, that you don't get a snow day, I guess there is room for improvement here. However, I like snow days! Always good hearing from you, Wende. I just figured out how to check comments =-)
